- Jan 01, 2020 Pot of Gold Though not implying statistical relevancy: The last three times I played freebet on double deck full pay 3 to 2 - hit the 100 to one payoff with outlandish plays - splitting 5s v 9, 2s v A, 7s v 10, all in very negative territory.
- Apr 16, 2017 All of the Caesars properties that have Free bet have the pot of gold side bet option. They also have it at Golden Gate and The D downtown. Downtown still pays 3:2 for blackjack on the Free Bet games.
Free Bet Blackjack is a variation of the standard game of blackjack. Free Bet Blackjack offers an optional Pot of Gold, Push 22 and Blazing 7’s Progressive wager. To receive cards you must make the standard blackjack wager. To play against the Pot of Gold paytable you must also make the Pot of Gold wager. Both the standard and Pot of Gold.

Sorry if this BJ variant question belongs in another forum, but I was just curious about the math behind the Pot of Gold side bet for Free Bet BJ as the current Wizard page on the game has no information on it.
For those not familiar, the PoG pays out based on the number of free bet lammers that a player collects during the round. So the calculation would be the odds of receiving either a free splittable pair (all but 10 rank cards) or a stiff 9-10-11 (hands involving Aces not being countable as 'stiff' for this purpose; though some houses do allow for this, none that I have heard of that offer PoG do).
The side bet comes with 2 pay tables:
Table 1:
Free Bet Lammers Collected / Pays:
7: 1,000:1
6: 300:1
5: 100:1
4: 60:1
3: 30:1
2: 10:1
1: 3:1
Table 2:
5-7: 100:1
4: 50:1
3: 30:1
2: 12:1
1: 3:1
If anyone can help with the math on this it would be helpful to me.
Also: if you can tweak the dials:
- How is the bet affected by no resplitting Aces?
- How does the number of decks affect this wager? (FWIW: 6 decks is what I would be interested in looking at).
- How would a continuous shuffler affect the math?
Thanks to anyone who can crunch these numbers!

When you say in a round you mean per hand amongst all players at the table? No longer hiring, don’t ask because I won’t hire you either

The Pot of Gold wager is attached to each betting spot and counts the free bets accrued at that spot only. That's why it maxes out at 7, as with max split up to 4 hands (so 3 free bets) with a max double on each of the 4 spots in that case (4 more free bets, total = 7).

It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet.

Has anyone seen Pot of Gold at a casino? I think it is a great addition to Free Bet, but have not seen in placed anywhere yet.

It was in Washington, however I don't think it's remotely attractive as side bets go, I'm not the math expert but to get seven free bets .... I don't think I have ever been dealt 4 splits with four double, would love to know the odds - I've never gotten it in regular blackjack let alone even more then 3 of them playing greener- especially given the limited double rules like no soft doubles would make it even harder. It's almost mythical like this casino that offers 100 dollars on any seven card Charlie as a bonus bet - I think they have paid out one TOTAL IN THE LAST 6 months
No longer hiring, don’t ask because I won’t hire you either

Where in WA? I will be back up there in early December and will check it out if it is located in I-5 corridor.

I just wrote up an analysis of the Pot of Gold side bet. Bottom line is a house edge of 5.76% or 4.64% depending on the pay table, assuming six decks. For a side bet, that is not bad.Administrator

Blackjack is the most popular table game at most casinos. Some players like a break from the traditional game and look for alternatives. Blackjack variants serve this market of player. The following are all the blackjack variants that can be found in Las Vegas casinos:
Free Bet Blackjack is the most popular variant in the Las Vegas market. It is spread in 20 casinos. This includes all segments, including the Strip, downtown, and the locals market.
Free Bet Blackjack gives players free double and splits. In exchange for this, players push if the dealer makes 22.
There are two different rule sets for Free Bet Blackjack. One pays 3-2 on a blackjack. The other pays 6-5. The 3-2 games have a house edge of around 1%. That goes up to about 2.4% at 6-5 tables, making it one of the worst blackjack games in Las Vegas.
Players will find 3-2 Free Bet Blackjack at Eastside Cannery, Golden Gate, Plaza and The D. All other Free Bet Blackjack tables in Las Vegas pay 6-5.
Free Bet Blackjack can also be found at online casinos. In our game page you can find where to play real money, live dealer free bet blackjack.
Blackjack Switch
Blackjack Switch is found in 17 Las Vegas casinos. The game requires players to make bets on two hands. The player may switch on card from one hand with one from the other.
Super Fun 21 adds many positive rules to the game, such as the ability to double down and surrender after hitting, six-card charlies and hitting split aces. To offset this, most blackjacks pay even money. There are 11 Las Vegas casinos with Super Fun 21.
Super Fun 21 is also a very popular online casino game. If you are not currently in Vegas and want to play Super Fun 21, there are some great online casinos. Find them all in our games page.
Zappit Blackjack
Zappit Blackjack started out online at Bodog and its related sites. It is now available at three Las Vegas casinos; Green Valley Ranch, Luxor, and Red Rock. The game only pays 6-5 at Luxor, making it one of the worst blackjack games in the market. It pays 3-2 at Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock.
Zappit Blackjack permits a player to discard a 15-18 hand for two new cards. In exchange for this, the dealer pushes on 22.
Zombie Blackjack is spread at Binion’s and 4 Queens. Players may get back in the game on certain dealer busts. The game pays 3-2 at both casinos. At Binion’s, it is the only blackjack game in the house that does. At 4 Queens, players will find two tables that pay 3-2, though one is Bonus Spin Blackjack, which is the second worst blackjack game in Las Vegas.
Spanish 21
Spanish 21 did not exist for several years in Las Vegas. Venetian and Palazzo brought the game back. The game takes all the 10s out of the deck. Face cards remain. This changes the strategy and adds some higher payouts on big hands like 678 and 777. The house pushes on 22.
There are two Bonus Spin Blackjack tables in Las Vegas that require the side bet. These tables are at Golden Nugget and 4 Queens. These two tables are respectively the worst and second-worst blackjack games in Las Vegas. The Golden Nugget version has a 5.5% house edge because it pays 6-5. The 4 Queens version has a 4.4% house edge because it pays 3-2.
Most Liberal 21
Most Liberal 21 is a proprietary game spread at Plaza. It has several similarities to Super Fun 21 where players can double down after hitting and hit split aces. Contrary to the name of the game, the house edge is about double a normal blackjack game.
Free Bet Blackjack Odds
Double Attack Blackjack is spread at Bally’s. The deck does not have 10s. Players may double their bet upon seeing one card, as well as double down and surrender after hitting. In exchange for this, blackjack pays even money.
